Actually in two weeks its gonna be back in and that has this single mom FREAKING OUT! I have yet to purchase one school supply. Yet to organize snacks. Yet to....
I give up.
I don't even know the bus schedule yet. Who is her teacher? What if she fails the 1st grade? Does she remember how to write her name!?!?!?
How is everyone excited about this time of year? I am FREAKING OUT.
Well... Emma did pick out her backpack. Its the ugliest mess I have ever seen but she loves it. And I love her. So that's all that matters right?
Oh god I need a shopping spree to calm me down.

Updated
Truly back to single motherhood. The past few months have been heart-wrenching. True questions on whether I can honestly be a mother, alone. But you know what? I can... and I have.
My bean turned six on Monday. She is growing everyday. She is a beautiful star.
I love this picture. She looks so grown up. I love her.

Today's post brought to you by... fatigue
Its been a while since I have sat down to compose something. This was a project that got stuck in the whelms of motherhood, new beginnings and raising a daughter with a very difficult illness.
I am still a "single mom" I suppose. Single mom with one very adoring live in boyfriend/step-father to my daughter. Although not legally yet. He still plays that role in her life.
My daughter is still the center of my world. I spend all of my time in Emma world. She is adorable and growing up.
She is also living with Asthma. It seems like a common illness to have, I guess. However the stress is no less.
Perhaps this is the revival of one single mom... I hope so.

Monday Funday
Today wont be anything particularly out of the ordinary. I want to make paint sometime this week but I need to pickup salt for the recipe.
I created, finally, the master list of projects listed by week/date based on the mommy school curriculum which is fantastic and can be found here!
September will start "A is for Apples". The weekend after the change to fall we will move onto "L is for Leaves" and end October with "H is for Halloween". Halloween still needs to be listed out by day activities but I figure having everything lined up for the next six-seven weeks is better than nothing! This way I can lay out what will be done for the coming week, make sure I have my supplies, food, materials, and printouts ready.
On deck for tonight - an introduction to red! We are going to be making spaghetti and ladybugs tonight. I am a little sleepy and we will need to stop by the dollar store to grab some construction paper so I wanted to still have some crafts to do with her and kind of introduce some of what we will be doing next week when we start our "A is for Apples" unit.
And an update on last week: I discovered (as I mentioned) our lack of salt for the creation of puffy paints. Instead we tried our hands at Cake Pops and made/froze the base. I ordered lollipop sticks from ebay and when they come in we will dip away. Pictures were taken and will be included as soon as I remember to grab my memory card. Hopefully we will have some success as making them before was a disaster!

Flutterby Jar
Last nights adventure into the makings of a Fairy Jar/Calm Down Jar = amazing. As I was taking the trash out this morning she went upstairs and brought it back down with her to the living room. When I came up she was just sitting on her little bench playing with it. Emma asked me if she could make one for several people she loved. We talked to each other about making different colors for different feelings to have around the house. It was a nice distraction from me brushing her hair which she absolutely hates.
We started by gathering our materials. Squeezable Glitter Paints, Extra Glitter, Glass Jar, 1 C Hot water and Food Coloring (you can see Emma ready to go with her favorite item). All purchased from the dollar store.
Next Emma got to work. She was kind of confused at first on how to squeeze the bottle of paint out.
She got very distracted though because she absolutely had to have glitter all over her hands.
Shake the dust!
Here she is in love with the finished product.
She insisted we take a picture together.
So the jar idea was a success and we didn't even use the entire tube of glue.
Tonight we are going to try our hands at puffy paint and name writing from the Get Your Mess On Blog and Mommy With Selective Memory Blog.

Planning my Day
Tonight I am prepared for a busy night with little bean. The exterminator is scheduled to show up anytime after 6:30PM. This means that I have to get home by 6:30 (always a challenge), vacuum the floor/couch, wipe down and straighten up the counter-tops in the kitchen, move the food out of the way all before they get here (I will pray immensely that the 6:15PM appointment they have before me runs late).
Luckily last night I got my life together and started working on Emma's new "school room" setting up craft bins, supplies and the announcements on her tack board for this week. That got me into super cleaning mode and I picked up, threw away, organized, etc, so my home does not look quite so much in disarray. That takes away some of the stress from tonight.
While the exterminators get to work I think the perfect way to make sure we have some fun tonight is to help her create her own Mind/Calm Down Jar.
Since the house will be kind of smelly from the exterminator I am realizing a quick dinner will have to do. Hoagies on the deck post calm down jar creation sound like a fine idea to me.

Wednesdays
Wednesdays are the best days for me. Not because its hump day, but because its the day I get her back after being away from her since the morning prior. There is nothing, no feeling in the world, that makes you feel like you do when a toddler runs up to your legs and squeezes for dear life as you walk in the door. There is no feeling in the world like hearing "MOMMY!" followed by "I missed you mommy!". The end of this day cannot come soon enough.
